Hammer-Aitoff map of the 4XMM-DR9s input observations in Galactic coordinates with a colour scale corresponding to the cumulated exposure time Hammer-Aitoff map of the 4XMM-DR9s input observations in Galactic coordinates. The radius of the plot symbols corresponds to 2°, thus to four times the actual XMM-Newton FoV and their colour to the total exposure time of all overlapping observations in each plotted bin.

This Users' Guide describes the Serendipitous Source Catalogues from overlapping XMM-Newton observations. Their latest release is 4XMM-DR9s. The catalogue release papers Traulsen et al. 2019, A&A 624, A77, and 2020, A&A accepted, give details on the data selection, the data processing, and the catalogue construction. The following websites include an executive summary.
